The phrase "CV Database" was intentionally coined as a neat soundbite and official strapline - by the founders of the Cvindex.com project in 1998 and continued on with the services on cvdatabase.org
It is intended as a short nome de plume to provide a headline description of the web application which was written to aggregate a databased group of CVs (Resumes) for the purposes of recruiters and employers looking to source potential staffing and employee candidates, to fill vacancies.
The phrase "Resume Bank" is often more popularly used for a similar services in the United States and other parts of the US influenced part of the world.
